Rockabilly – American Graffiti – Grease

Portfolio Builder Day

20th August 2016

3 Models, old cars, memorabilia plus much more

The event

This Aladdin’s cave of old American autos and interesting memorabilia nestles behind owner Tony’s house. Everywhere you look are interesting backdrops, items of interest all with that fantastic patina that time creates.

Our three models will be styled in Rockabilly, American Graffiti and Grease styles. There is even a cabin with a veranda, very Doris Day!

The day starts with a meet and greet over refreshments, meet the Portfolio Builder Day support team as groups are assigned and we run through the schedule of the day. We then have a full tour of the venue with international trainer, Andrew Appleton.

Andrew will give a short lighting demonstration with the Broncolor lights to help get those creative juices flowing and then you’re off with your group to scope out your shooting locations. Shoot 1 is followed by a buffet lunch and refreshments, and then we’re in to shoot 2 and 3.

The location

Based near Preston Parktannas Yard is a the love of owner Tony. Over the years he has collected a number interesting old US motors including Fords, Chrysler, International and a Cadillac. Unlike a museum some of these cars are awaiting restoration and some are used as everyday runabouts. The whole area is full of memorabilia and interesting objects including a home made copy of a classic Schwinn bike.

The details

The event runs between 10.00am – 5.00pm on the Saturday 20th August

The cost of the day is £199 per person. This Portfolio Builder Day event includes the location, 3 models, lighting equipment, lunch and refreshments throughout the day and of course the PBD support team.

Numbers are limited to a maximum of 12 photographers. Please note this is a Portfolio Builder Day and not a workshop, although we do have a support team on hand.

There is an option for one group of 4 photographers to work with Andrew Appleton throughout the day receiving training on lighting, posing and composition. This is limited to 4 and is strictly first come fist served. When choosing this option the images you take may not be considered as wholly authored by you as they would be shot under workshop conditions.

"What sets our studio apart from the others is a number of factors, although we have indoor areas, predominantly our visual effects and interesting features are provided outside and some of the backdrops have simply never been seen or photographed before. We have 5 American cars and pick ups dating from 1929 to 1941. We have a large outdoor space which is secluded and private. Electricity can be provided and props can be moved about with help from this end. Our areas are changing all the time and different retro items added." applephoto160705_416
